OK sounds weird but here it goes. Does anyone have trouble swallowing? I have been tested for swallowing ( that yucky chalky stuff and marshmallow soaked in that white stuff) and that test showed nothing wrong. But here's the thing I can be eating, drinking liquids, or nothing at all in my mouth and start coughing and choking. After these pass I can continue to eat, drink or whatever and be perfectly fine.

Members overwhelmingly related to the experience of sudden choking or difficulty swallowing, even when tests showed nothing wrong, with many describing it as feeling like their throat forgot how to work or that food simply wouldn't go down without liquid. Several members shared practical strategies that helped, including taking smaller bites, chewing thoroughly, drinking plenty of water with meals, using applesauce to swallow pills, and in some cases having their esophagus stretched during an endoscopy. A recurring theme was the fear and frustration of these episodes, with many attributing symptoms to medications like Lyrica or Cymbalta, conditions like hiatal hernia or acid reflux, or simply the unpredictable nature of living with fibromyalgia.

Yes I do have and I am hoping to have a test done as well. I can't even swallow tiny pills without tons of water. And am always fighting with things going down the wrong pipe.

Hmm, I sometimes choke on my own saliva, and I mean REALLY choke. It mainly only happens in my sleep though. Once in a great while it will happen if I am awake. I also have a hard time swallowing food. I have to make sure I take smaller bites and chew really well. It feels like my throat is getting smaller and the food goes down very slow.

Funny I got checked 4 years ago for this and it was because I would have times where I would eat something and it wasn't going down at all , ( that hurts like hell) sorry but it does . They did all those gross tests and then did a throat tube and found it was acid reflux which it did not feel like at all . But I took the meds and it helped now it happens once and a while and still hurts like (H) ! But I'm not sure why neither are they .

Yes! I have been doing that now for a couple of years. It is like I forgot how to swallow for a moment. It is really weird.
