There Has Been Questions About Gabapentin And Weight Gain?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I asked my physician about it by email and this is what she wrote back to me. :
Hi Jennifer,
Gabapentin can cause a bit of weight gain, so you will need to see if the benefits outweigh the side effects.
It typically does not cause weight gain itself, but can sometimes increase the appetite, which can then lead to weight gain.
I hope you are otherwise doing well.
Thank you,
Stephanie Wong, MD and Florence Garrett, PA-C

I noticed when I increased my dosage, I started to retain fluid and gained weight. I decreased the dosage back and immediately got rid of the excess fluid and lost the weight.

I've never been prescribed Gaba but I was on Lyrica and Cymbalta and experienced significant weight gain as well as swelling in my legs big time! Right now, till I get into a rheumatologist, my pain management doc has me on Percocet and Voltaren extended release.

I'm taking gabapentin and cymbals and haven't had any weight gain in fact people are passing comment that I've actually lost weight as I never weigh myself I really don't know if this is the case or not. I do know my meds are really helping my pain and I wouldn't be without them
