Members widely confirmed experiencing both fibromyalgia and uterine fibroids, with many sharing stories of heavy bleeding, severe cramps, anemia, and large clots that led to hysterectomies or other interventions like uterine fibroid embolization. Several members described developing or worsening fibromyalgia symptoms after hysterectomy, with one rheumatologist explaining that surgery is a controlled trauma that can trigger fibromyalgia earlier than it might have otherwise appeared, and others noting new digestive issues like IBS and chronic diarrhea post-surgery. A recurring theme was finding ways to manage overlapping symptoms through dietary fiber for IBS, salt reduction for cramps, and leaning on humor and community solidarity to cope with the frustrating reality of living with multiple chronic conditions at once.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I forgot...as for IBS, yes, fiber is your friend!! It will help balance out the constipation and diarrhea. You'll still get it, at least I do, but it won't be as bad. Since you have both, don't take any prescription meds for it. There's nothing to keep you balanced. You'll just go from one extreme to the other! As for the cramping and gas, gas x. That's all I've found. Let's just say it "helps". For me, those are my worse symptoms. If I wasn't too embarrassed, I could probably get a word record for the longest fart!! LOL

Interesting comment that the surgery made your fibro worse. I wonder if there are a lot more people who have post op complications after surgery that don't get discussed. I will be brave. After my hysterectomy I have had chronic diarrhea. Not c-diff. So of course they say it is IBS> but why did it start after surgery?

I had them and had very high chance of cancer so I had hysterectomy last year but the hysterectomy brought out my fibromyalgia sooner I haven't been the same since
