Members shared their experiences managing Giant Cell Arteritis alongside fibromyalgia and other chronic conditions, with one member detailing how symptoms like temple pain, vision changes, and fatigue led to diagnosis and treatment with high-dose prednisone, which controlled the arteritis but caused difficult side effects including elevated blood pressure, blood sugar spikes, and severe bloating. Several members described managing multiple overlapping conditions like fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, and heart issues by carefully balancing medications, managing stress, and using symptom-focused strategies such as pain medication, massage therapy, and music for calm. A recurring theme was the resilience required to keep going despite debilitating symptoms, with practical suggestions including detox baths with Epsom salt and baking soda for inflammation, staying hydrated, and advocating with doctors to adjust medications when side effects become unbearable.

Hi Shauna.
2 months ago I saw a very large vein leading from my right eye all the way up my forehead to my hairline. Looked like a big Vericeous vein. Since then I've had a headache behind my eye in my temple and behind my ear. Could no longer touch that area without pain even brush my hair on that side.
Started excessive sweating all the time even when cold.
Very tired.
Last couple of weeks lost weight and my appetite was not good.
Then my neck, collar bone and right shoulder started to hurt.
Started hearing my heart beat constantly in my left temple. (Like a whooshing sound)
My vision started to blur so I got scared and made an appointment to see my doctor.
Now I've been on prednisone for 5 days and almost all symptoms have disappeared.
All these symptoms developed over a period of two months.
Hope this helps.

@A MyFibroTeam Member how did you get diagnosed with Temporal Arteritis? I've been having bad headaches in my temples and bad jaw pain. I've been referred to a neurologist, just waiting on an appt.

I also have fibro, borderline, ADHD, and A-fib. They all feed off of each other. I have to be really careful with stress. They definitely make life interesting. The medications for A-fib agravate the ADHD and fibro. My doctor says we have the balance about as good as we can get it. He says that exercise might improve my symptoms but pinched nerves are making that difficult.
