Members shared mixed experiences with gabapentin for fibromyalgia pain, with some finding it helpful for nerve and muscle pain while others reported little to no relief even after dose increases. A recurring theme was significant weight gain as a common side effect, though many noted that individual responses vary widely and finding the right medication or combination often requires trial and error. Several members mentioned switching between gabapentin and Lyrica or adding Cymbalta, emphasizing the importance of working closely with doctors to find what works best for each person's unique symptoms.

I am sorry I was put on Cymbalta and then Flexeril right away and I am still on both and my only side effects is tiredness so my doctor has me take it at night which helps me sleep most nights I do have a few bad nights lately that has been my back.

I've been on gabapentin for a long time my body fast gets used to what ever I take so at moment am taking 1200mg 3x daily along with other nerve and painkillers, I sometimes feel it's not working until I miss doses then I feel the impact, I have on a negative gained weight so working on that for a moment , good luck remember no person is the same with fibromyalgia you have to try things and combinations that are best for you x

In my experience, Lyrica has been more effective than Gabapentin - everyone is different though...

I take it and remember when I started it the muscle pain stopped almost at once. I still take it. I have gained weight but I also am 72 and have other medical conditions that restrict a lot of exercise. Almost all meds, and herbal products, have side effects.

I use to take the Gabapentin but it causes you to retain weight, though it works.
