Colonoscopy
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am 20 years old and go in for a colonoscopy on Wednesday. I have never been put to sleep and am very scared. Also, if they find polyps or internal hemrroids and remove them, will I be in additional pain after the procedure???

Hi I have had one and I was scared to death but it was actually easy the prep was worse to me. I had a second one scheduled this week but due to me breaking my wrist I cancelled. Try to relax and be calm they gave me something to relax me before they put me to sleep. I know everyone is different but try to relax I actually had the best sleep ever when they did it , it was nice if that sounds weird sorry but I don't sleep well at all. I have diverticulitis and IBS-D so used to seeing a gastro doctor . My husband to me to dinner arfterwards and then I just went home and rested like bunnie said May god be with you and keep you safe 🙏

Hello My Fibro Teammate, I have had quite a few colonoscopy's myself at my young age Lol. I'm 56 an they are no where's as bad as the horror stories you use to hear an they give you just a mild sedative an to me I have had polyps removed an no pain afterwards. To me the worst part of the whole procedure is the prep taking all of the laxatives to get yourself cleaned out. But I have never experienced any pain honey but that is just my experience Best of luck to you sweetheart, You are very young to have a colonoscopy may I ask why they are doing one on you?

Hi I had a colonoscopy done 4 yrs ago and I didn't experience any pain or discomfort after procedure .If you have a polyp they will remove them and send them to lab. That is not painful because you are out.The only thing I didn't enjoy is the prep liquid I had to drink and the enemas. But other than that you will be fine it's a very easy procedure and you will be asleep.Hang in their sending you soft hugs ❤️❤️

@A MyFibroTeam Member Over the years I have had three or four Colonoscopies. The last one in 2012. It wasn't bad for me. I just prayed about it, ask the Lord to give me peace. It went smoothly and I did have some polyps but the the doctor took them off during the procedure. When I woke I had to wait a bit to make sure I wasn't dizzy or anything. I had no pain afterwards. Then my husband took me to have breakfast because I was really hungry having to take the laxatives before the procedure. It really isn't as bad as it sounds. May God be with you and give you calmness. John 3:16
