Sharp Hip Pain
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone get these sharp pains that shoot through your hip or hips at times? Mine is usually the left hip. I'm sure it has something to do with my nerve damage but it's a fairly new symptom.

Yes! Puts me in bed so bad. I use heating pad. So I do not get stiff when I am stuck in bed I have just a small plastic kid's light weight play ball and put it between my knees and gently press and release slowly about 10x or whatever you can do throughout the day. I can't take prescription pain meds unfortunately, because I have horrible reactions, so I will take regular Alka Selzer in 8oz of water 1st thing in the morning. The baking soda and citric acid is really good to help with the pH in our body and the aspirin in it helps with swelling and pain. Hope this works for you somewhat. Unfortunately, at this time there is no cure. We can only try different things and hopefully come across something that worked for one person might work for us too.

Are we talking abt a hip joint pain so sudden and sharp tht you catch your breath as you start to collapse? I have tht in my left hip. My doctor diagnosed it as arthritis 10 yrs ago after doing mri. I also have dull aching pain in my lower spine, again dx as OA, and pain in pelvis, thigh, calf, ankles and feet. It feels as if my bones are dying. Then tht pain mixes with the peripheral neuralgia in my feet which describes a whole other type of pain.. With my thighs and calves, I use my fingers to dig deep down in between the muscles until I can hit a nerve and hold pressure on it. This hurts but for me it starts to alleviate the leg pain for a while. It's basically the same concept as deep tissue massage. I really think tht our doctors need to be reading our fibro posts on here. The things I'm learning, the symptoms I have tht I now see tht several other ppl w/FM have is incredible!! They could learn a lot frm just reading the stories we share. I know I have and I am starting my 4th decade w/FM. Thank you all, for sharing and being honest abt what FM does to your body. They say getting old is not for sissys, but neither is FM. For me, It's like being on an old ship out on the open sea, in the dark of night with just the moonlight to see. Plotting the course for your day but never knowing when a storm will flare up and toss you around and beat your ass until you are battered and just coasting until repairs can be made. ⛵

Mine is prayer. Connecting w/my heavenly Father and knowing He is in charge, He has a plan for my life even though I don't understand why I have to go through this. Not everybody is healed. Suffering is a part of life, just as He suffered for us . So I try to count my blessings and thank God daily for taking care of me, providing for me and just being here to go through my bad days and my good with me. If not for Him, I know I would not be here today.

Yes, I did have terrible hip pain which before fibromyalgia, was diagnosed as a labral tear thru MRI arthrogram. My Dr. recommended surgery, however, after the surgery, the same pain came back along with multiple pains in other parts of my body. When I have gone back to have it rechecked I am told the tear is no longer there and it's just my arthritis acting up or a fibro flare. By the way, I don't seem to get many fibro flares. I'm in pain almost every day. I consider myself very lucky if I have 1-2 days a month where my pain level is on the low end of the scale. I feel like I'm continually in a flare. Does anyone else feel this way?

@A MyFibroTeam Member I haven't fallen but when I get pain that bad in my legs/calves/feet, I've noticed that I will go numb soon after. I have slipped and nearly fallen though due to that pain. Hugs
