I am in the process of filing for disability and they told me it could be another 16 months before I would hear about a court date. I mean how am I suppose to wait and provide for myself for that long? I filed once and was denied but I never knew that so I wasn't able to appeal. So I refiled and was denied again and now I've appealed it and am waiting. Has anyone else experienced this issue? I'm just lost.

I have been denied 3 times. Lawyers make you think they will help you but then drop you once your denied. Good luck.
I filed once and was denied. I filed a second time but with a lawyer. I know they take a part of your money but......it is totally worth it and my case was settled much faster with a lawyer than without one. Hope your gets settled soon.
I first filed in 2000, was denied. I did not have the information on the internet what to do and did not know about appealing. I filed again in 2001. Denied again. Then in 2003 as I was filing out the form once again a commercial on tv was talking about they would do the filing, the paperwork, etc. It was from Binder and Binder social security advocates. I finally won my case in '06. Got about $8,000 lump sum and the lawyers got their 25% share, and I get around $860 every month since then. It goes up, it goes down, but I do still get something. In the end it sure is worth the wait. Good luck @A MyFibroTeam Member and to everyone else going through this process. My daughter has also filed and she has a court date in October. She has been living with me for 2 years. It can get trying. I hope something good happens for her.
If you have been denied I would get a lawyer. They have lawyers that specialize in social security they do all the work and if for some reason you don't get it you don't have to pay them but if you get it they just take it from your back pay. You will still get back pay they just take their portion
Thanks ladies! I'm just hoping amd praying for the best. If I get denied again after this appeal, I'll get a lawyer. But I'm taking it one step at a time.
