I would like to know from other fibro sufferers in the uk, especially in my area, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire,
What experiences have you had with the acute pain clinic?
Initially I was given a Jan 2017 appt ( given in June 2016), now it's been upgraded to urgent, so it's now sept this year, a month away?
Would appreciate any uk fibro sufferers experiences
Best wishes

Members from across the UK shared their experiences with acute pain clinics for fibromyalgia, with most describing them as helpful resources staffed by pain specialists who offer steroid injections, medication adjustments like morphine or pregabalin, and referrals to other specialists. Several members reported positive outcomes, including months of pain relief from spinal injections, thorough and welcoming care at facilities like Churchill in Oxford, and relatively short wait times of five weeks to a few months, though experiences varied widely with some facing six-month waits or brief consultations. A recurring theme was the emotional importance of finding hope and relief from constant pain, with members encouraging each other to advocate for themselves, persist through long waits, and stay optimistic that the pain clinic could offer meaningful support even if results weren't immediate or permanent.

Hi
I have gone to a Pain Clinic for years. Currently the Royal Free as I am close[ish]. They are run by pain specialists, even the physios, often anaesthetists. They will give steroid injections and update medications eg I am on morphine because of them rather than tramadol. They use all the high tech stuff and are the best places to go if you have chronic pain. They are good at referrals too for other specialists. I highly recommend them.

@A MyFibroTeam Member.. if I were you I would go to the Dr's and get the diagnosis and then get to the pain clinic for more help. Just having the pain clinic on your side helps you alot, I know it helped me because they understood xxx

I went to the acute pain clinic in Stamford and had a lignocaine infusion that didn't work on Me, but works on some patients. They have said now there is nothing more they can do for me. But they put me on...pregabalin..3 a day and tramadol...2 4 times a day and I am on a fentanyl patch which I change every 72hrs. It is a controlled drug, I got my appointment quite quickly from Stamford.

Hi Rosssalyn ๐Ÿ˜„ I'm going to the pain clinic at Northampton hospital Thursday this week. This will be my first appointment but I've only had to wait 5 weeks so not to bad.
Sorry I can't help, I don't really know what to expect myself.
The strange thing is I'm going for my fibro but I spent a week in hospital and been diagnosed with Tonsillar Cerebellum Ectopia, the pain clinic team saw me on a few occasions about my head and neck pain. My whole body hurts most days off the week, so not really expecting them to be able to do much for me xx
