Had my first hydrotherapy session yesterday which went fairly well but then all day I was having muscle spasms in my hips! Anyone else experience this after they've been?

Members shared mixed experiences with hydrotherapy for fibromyalgia, with many describing initial muscle spasms, soreness, and stiffness after sessions, particularly in the hips, lower back, and legs, though several emphasized that discomfort typically eases after a day or two as the body adjusts. Several members offered practical advice, including staying well-hydrated before and after sessions, keeping warm in dressing rooms and during travel, taking pain medication as needed, communicating openly with therapists about symptoms, and using remedies like pickle juice or magnesium for muscle spasms. A recurring theme was cautious optimism, with members encouraging persistence through the initial discomfort because hydrotherapy's warm water support can strengthen muscles, improve flexibility, and reduce pain over time, even if benefits fade after a course ends.

A messroday, the theory behind Hydro therapy supports your weight while you are in the water so you can use your muscles with out the burden or strain of body weight, the warmth help ease the tention in your muscles and can relieve pain and increases blood flow taking nourishment inandtoxins out.

I heard they do have that effect on everyone. But it gets easier. But I could not find it so. I joined an aqua class instead. I only do what I'm capable of each time I go. My energy level improved. Gentle hugs everyone.

I wanted to say to all of you who posted and are interested that my Physician's Assistant in the Orthopedics department referred me to the hydro therapy.

I have had much success with hydrotherapy. I know it's important to use my muscles in some form everyday and it seems using my legs in arms in the water seems to lesson my pain and to keep my muscles stronger and to not let them atrophy.
It's hard at first, but after awhile it should become easier.
Blessings..
