I need some help and advice. My husband and I are leaving for the Oregon coast for 10 days on vacation tomorrow. I live in Utah so the weather here is very dry and hot. We are staying right on the ocean and I know it can be foggy and rainy. Am I in for a really bad fibro flare? And if I am, any suggestions on what I can do to prevent it from being bad?

Members responded warmly to someone worried about a fibro flare during a 10-day trip to the rainy Oregon coast, with many emphasizing that mindset matters and encouraging her to focus on the fun rather than anticipating pain. Several members shared practical strategies for the long drive from Utah, including stopping every few hours to stretch, using heated or vibrating seat pads, staying hydrated, and layering clothing to stay warm and dry once there. A recurring theme was preparation without anxiety, with members suggesting hot tubs, heating pads, electric blankets, and even flower remedies, while reassuring her that with the right tools and her husband's help, she could enjoy the vacation without letting fibro steal the joy.

My family lives in North Dakota and I make the almost 1000 mile trip several times a year. We stop every couple of hours just to stretch and walk for a bit. My truck has heated seats so when I'm getting really sore, I turn on the heat

For the trip are you driving, they make vibrating heating pads for the car, drink plenty of water and take lots of rest stops, enjoy the scenery and spending quality time with your family and most of all have fun

I would layer, layer and then layer. Also make sure you have umbrellas and/or rain coats. Anything to stay dry, even wrapping a scarf around your neck. I would think staying dry and warm should help. Maybe where you are staying has a fireplace that you could light up when you come back inside and cuddle with hubby in front of it. Maybe consuming hot chocolate and/or hot soup could help. I hope you have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, just tell yourself the weather difference will feel good to your body. Go with the mindset of vacation not worry about the possibilities of a flare. Don't get me wrong, I would probably over prepare for the weather difference but go and have fun my fibro sister πŸ’œ

Funny you mentioned a hot tub @A MyFibroTeam Member. The hotel I picked has a huge jetted bath tub on the balcony. I'm just worried once I get in I won't be able to get out! Lol. Thanks for your advice!
