Hi all, just a quick question. I have been taken off all of my pain medication apart from co-codamol and been started on duloxetine 25mg at night. I am really struggling with this, it's not touching the pain or helping me sleep (I am an insomniac)
Has this medication helped anyone or is there something that anyone can recommend that I ask my Dr to try me on? I have been on amitriptaline, gababpentine and pregabaline in the past, none of which has helped me and I'm beginning to get desperate

Members shared their experiences and advice for someone struggling with duloxetine for pain management and insomnia, with several people finding that mirtazapine was the only antidepressant that truly helped them sleep, though others noted concerns about weight gain and brain fog. Several members described their own medication combinations, including higher doses of duloxetine (90mg), pregabalin, amitriptyline, and dosulepin, emphasizing that finding the right medication often requires patience through difficult initial weeks and trial and error. A recurring theme was the strong encouragement to ask for a referral to a pain management clinic, with members affirming this as a logical and valuable next step that offers access to additional treatment options and specialized expertise beyond medication alone.

I take 90mg in the morning, it takes away part of my nerve pain.

A real shame. The antidepressant you've been prescribed will make you lively so not good for sleep. A combination od Amytriptalline and pregabalin helps but causes weight gain and memory problems.
Dosulepin is great if you can get over the 1st 2 weeks of maybe increased symptoms. If you can stick at it it's unbelievabley benefitiotory

Yes. A good idea. They will have lots of ideas about where to go next. They will also be able to offer other options on top of the medication.
Good Luck

Thanks everyone, I am going to speak to my Dr again next week. I'm not coping well at the min. Ive tried many many antidepressants over the years, I'm currently being weaned off venlafaxine 225mg daily. I found that Mirtazapine didn't help me sleep, I just have the foggy feeling for the majority of the day. Does anyone think it wold be worth asking for a referral to a pain management clinic?
