I've recently added a Pain Management Doctor to my list of physicians. He wants me to begin using a TENS Machine. What is it? Has anyone used it? Any relief? Pros/Cons? Thanks for your help!

Members shared overwhelmingly positive experiences with TENS machines for managing pain, explaining that the device sends small electrical currents through pads placed on the skin to block pain signals and stimulate the body's natural endorphins. Many members described finding relief for conditions including lower back pain, neck stiffness, herniated discs, and torn rotator cuffs, with several noting that units are affordable on Amazon and small enough to wear discreetly under clothing. A recurring theme was that while TENS works well for localized pain in specific areas like the back or shoulders, it may be less effective for widespread conditions like fibromyalgia or for some individuals, though the consensus remained that it is worth trying as a noninvasive tool for pain management.

You will benefit from a tens unit. I worked in Physical therapy and it is just 4 or 5 probes that stick on your back then the small machine adjust to how much vibration you can handle. Feels good.

Tens machine is small but does help. It stimulates the painful area and gives u relief for a short period of time. Sometimes it last longer and gives u more relief.

@A MyFibroTeam Member 15 years?! I just had it done. I had torn stuff along the collar bone and in my back too so I couldn't have gone with out it. I have a small machine but i don't think it helps. Glad it does for you all.

don't know about fibrosis but I use a tens for back and neck pain (herniated discs) and for shoulder (torn rotator cuff) and have avoided surgery for 15 years. The VA gave me a cheap tens unit and then a high $$$ one both were so so. I got a micro tens unit from amazon and it's a godsend buy the sandals that plug into unit too $50 for both. Best money I ever spent
