I know whenever I get a cold I get a fibro flare but this is going over a week in the summer time which is unusual. My cold does not fully develop, I have a very bad sore throat and entire body aches, completely fatiged, have had a couple of migraines. I am getting high anxiety over this. What do you do when this happens? Meds are not working only the migraine med. The others are making me more fatigued even dayquil. I am a mess right now.

Members rallied around someone struggling to distinguish between a summer cold and a fibromyalgia flare, sharing that the two often overlap and can trigger each other, especially when sleep is disrupted or stress levels rise. Several members offered practical remedies including homeopathic options like oscillococcinum and Boiron's Chestal, allergy checks for dust and fans, immune-boosting supplements like Ester-C, and careful consideration of whether to restart medications like Cymbalta despite difficult withdrawal symptoms. A recurring theme was the importance of rest, self-compassion, and listening to your body during these uncertain and exhausting episodes, with many emphasizing that lack of sleep is a major flare trigger and that sometimes the best medicine is simply giving in and allowing yourself time to heal.

I had a summer cold recently for the first time in years. Woke with horrible sore throat, then it progressed to aches everywhere and total head congestion. It took about 2 weeks, then finally went away. Oh, I had a cough with it. I drank Alka-Seltzer Plus severe cold & flu, and it helped a little. I also use Boiron's Chestal cold & cough. It helps the cough and it's homeopathic. Hang in there! Hugs!

Okay a couple of questions for you. First are you allergic to dust or pollen or mold? Sometimes this feels like a cold coming on but its allergies. Do you have fans? Are they dusty? I no I sound like a pain but Im serious this happened with me. The flareups were so bad so I started a process of elimination because my Dr couldn't figure it out. And viola it worked. Now I still get flareups but no cold symptoms.

I get that also sometimes. Sore throat, sores in my mouth, and totally fatigued. Not sure why this happens just give into it and sleep. In few days start to feel better. Part of fibro I thinkπŸ˜ŠπŸ™πŸ™πŸ’

@A MyFibroTeam Member this is my third time taking a break from Cymbalta. In warm months I get better. Now I am not sure if it also has to do with my kids being on vacation as well. Since they started school I have more bad days. I try to give my body a break from all meds I can so I don't build tolerance and to give my liver and kidneys a break. It feels like if I need to get back on Cymbalta again. I wish there was a different medicine with less withdrawal symptoms. Cymbalta kicks my butt every time I try to stop.
