I was just wondering if anyone is going thru this.
One week I'm really constipated and the next week I have diarrhea.

Members connected deeply over the frustrating cycle of alternating constipation and diarrhea, with many confirming that this pattern is a common symptom of fibromyalgia often linked to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), medication side effects, and stress. Several members shared practical strategies including staying well-hydrated, taking magnesium supplements (500 mg twice daily), keeping medications like Senna or Imodium on hand, and planning extra bathroom time after meals when eating out. A recurring theme was the physical and emotional toll of unpredictable bowel symptoms, the challenge of managing pain medications that worsen constipation, and the need for compassionate medical support rather than dismissive advice to simply get used to it.

You probably have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Talk to your doctor about it. Also taking 500 mg of Magnesium 2x day can help with that along with helping your pain.

Yeah this is me today, been constipated all week and now have profuse diarrhoea. I've been investigated and diagnosed with IBS, reflux disease, hiatus hernia and an ulcer. Awful but part and parcel of my fibro.

Try to keep ur fluid intake up to help, especially if constipated. Make sure you have plenty of toilet tissue for diarrhoea days as well. Hot baths/showers can help if u have a sore bottom.

It's a lovely illness this!
