Lactose Intolerance
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone become lactose intolerant since developing fibro? Not sure if it's one of the many symptoms of if it's an unrelated condition

Do you suffer from IBS as a knock on from your fibro.
I have always loved milk and dairy products, and have never had a problem til I got my IBS which I have due to my fibro.
Now I suffer badly after I have anything with lactose in it.

Hi. I'm not intolerant to the lactose in dairy, but as far as I am able to tell I am intolerant to the protein (casein/whey) in dairy. I have had the lactose and fructose intolerance tests and came up clear for both yet I cannot have dairy without some fairly troubling effects, my gastro dude said they can't test for dairy protein intolerance but that that's probably what it is. I guess "probably" is as good as I will get!

What are your symptoms? I'm wondering that also. I have bad stomach cramping and nausea. My allergist said they don't test for it. Uggg

I have recently learned that dairy stays in your system 30 days.. And that it produces the horrible mucus in your body.. I can not drink milk or eat ice cream without having issues ( unrelated to the fibro) have always said though that cheese and yogurt didn't bother me.. Until talking with friend and she said those are just causing me OTHER issues not gastric!
Cut out for 30+ days... Go to almond milk or soy milk products.. See if that makes the difference!
