Helicobacter Pylori
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone ever had helicobacter pylori?

My GP mentioned it on my last visit, because my costochondritis hasn't gone away since March, in March I had what I was told was a serious chest infection.

I've just got into bed and again can feel and hear my chest on the left rattling. This is the same side the 3 chest infection I've had in the past 12 months have been. I'm 33 years old and was still at school when I had any previous chest infections.

I'm at the doctors on Thursday for other… read more

I'll try that again! Accidentally tapped the "add answer" button!
I had an H Pylori infection years ago but it wasn't treated correctly at the time, about 5 years later a doctor asked me about it and immediately put me on the Nexium antibiotic cocktail which is comprised of 3 different antibiotics. This was the correct treatment but the damage was already done, the new antibiotic treatment stripped my stomach which caused me more problems, and from there it was like a game of dominos.... I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2010, but that diagnose has since been revoked by a different doctor who doesn't believe I have Crohns, ....just some ulcerations and anaemia and tonnes of stomach issues...... But H Pylori was the start of it all, probably not helped by the salmonella a few years before that. In both cases from eating something from a poorly sanitised restaurant. Now I am very wary!!

I was diagnosed in 96. I kept throwing up/diarrhea pains in my chest like a heart attack. I went to GP told me "panic attacks" or "acid reflux" prescribed 2 antacids and lorazepam to relax. Continued to get worse. I called for a FU appt I was told my Dr out of the country, but associate could get me in.
I explained to him what was going on , what Dr had said and done. Dr prescribed Blood work, gave me 2 antacids and 2 antibiotics. Sounds like H-PHYLORI let's start you on antibiotics until labs come back. 12 hrs later diagnosed with h- phylori.
Something I had never heard of researched, printed, read. The RN at my job had never heard of it.
Dr explained everyone born with the bacteria some never have an issue others do.
Mine was triggered by spoiled German potato salad One teaspoon full.
I think I went to ER 3x'S thinking I was having a heart attack would give me a Lidocaine cocktail to numb my esophagus to not throw up.
I did end up in the hospital and was put on stronger IV antibiotic.
At that time I had IBS and Ulcers (but never lost weight from being sick)
I have had numerous endoscopy then I was told mine was only 1/4th of the way open get it dilated every 5 years.
When they do your scope ask for a copy of pictures mine showed my ulcers.
I had my gallbladder removed in 2010 ended up with RLS then diagnosed with Fibromyalgia (but have been reading somehow hysterectomy es, RLS, Fibromyalgia, gallbladder all have something related.
I wish you well you will not feel a thing and will come up with answers.
Sending prayers that your concerns will be answered.

I had an h. Pylori infection caused by chronic constipation that was caused by the cymbalta I was taking. I had to take 4 senna a day to keep things moving or face the infection again. The infection was awful.

Not on anything at the moment had to have an endoscopy on Saturday to see if I do or not. I see my usual GP a week on Friday to get the results of the endoscopy

Sorry I have not had it. Are you on meds for it ? You may have to ask your doctor to recommend a chest specialist before it gets worse.
