Members shared mixed experiences with gabapentin for fibromyalgia pain, with many finding it helpful for nerve pain and sleep while others struggled with side effects like drowsiness, weight gain, dizziness, and emotional changes that made daily functioning difficult. Several members described switching to Lyrica (pregabalin) after gabapentin didn't work well for them, noting that while Lyrica also caused initial side effects and weight gain for some, it ultimately provided better pain relief and clearer thinking. A recurring theme was the importance of starting slowly as the doctor suggested, being patient as the medication can take weeks to work, and staying alert to how your body responds since everyone's experience varies widely.

I found it didn't touch my pain... I was on it for 3 months... But I have since switched to pregabalin aka Lyrica and I am finding it much more helpful in the pain dept. Once you take a month or so for side effects to wear off :) though I do take regular laxatives because if I don't it becomes a big problem lol

Hi my doctor also put me on gabapentin but when I was referred to the pain management team we found that even though the pain side was helping me all I did was sleep, day or night I wasn't able to lead a normal as possible life,so they changed it to pregablin which for me works best, the pain management team taught me how to up my medication when I have a bad day or lower it on a good day, I hope that helps with your question.:-)

I thought I answered this but maybe someone else asked the same question. I am on gabapentin and it works for me. I haven't noticed any side effects that I know of. I did notice right away that the muscle pain went away!

Yes, don't take it. It made my crazy I had to get off of it. It make you do and say crazy things. I was not my self. I am just say that what it did to me. You may be different. I have talked to many people about it. NO GOOD! I even heard;... people see things like bugs on the walls and stuff.
