I've been noticing more and more that I am losing a ton of hair when I am in the shower. Almost handfuls. Does
This happen to anyone else? Any recommendations to
Help prevent this? Or try to counter act the loss? I am already using sulfate and paraben free shampo... It's staring to worry me.

Members responding to concerns about significant hair loss during showering emphasized the importance of comprehensive thyroid testing, noting that many people with fibromyalgia also have hypothyroidism and that standard tests sometimes miss issues if labs use outdated normal ranges. Several members shared practical strategies that helped them, including taking biotin supplements (which take about three months to work), trying Oriental Botanicals HairPro, managing stress levels, staying hydrated, and in some cases cutting hair shorter to make the loss less noticeable and easier to manage. A recurring theme was that hair loss can stem from multiple fibromyalgia-related factors including stress, poor sleep, thyroid dysfunction, and the condition itself, with members encouraging thorough testing and patience as regrowth often happens slowly once the underlying cause is addressed.

Have you checked your thyroid? If it's not functioning correctly you can loose a lot of hair. So many of us on this site have hypothyroid. If by chance this is the reason, after you receive the correct treatment your hair will recover. I hope it's just that simple!

Make sure when you are being told your thyroid is normal that the limits for "normal" are correct. The academy for endocrinology says the normal limits should be from .3-3.0. Lots of labs will say normal is 5 which is really not therapeutic. My hair falls out when my thyroid is off

My hair's been falling out since my fibro diagnosis about 3 yrs ago. It was long, and I finally cut it short earlier this yr. So easy to take care of now! I also take biotin. It is over-the-counter and is good for hair, skin, and nails. It takes about 3 months to start working. Hope this helps. Gentle Hugs!

Yes, I also have been moaning about hair thinning for ages. Dreaded washing my hair let alone brushing it. Decided to grow it long ( have always wants really long hair.....very very curly πŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜–) so I could pile it up on top and cover he thinning spot. Chemist suggested Oriental Botanicals Hairpro.
My hair has started to grow back and I've only been taking it for three months! 😁😁😁😁😁
Stress is the cause of so many side effects of fibromyalgia. If your doctor suggests anti depressants take them! Doesn't mean your nuts but the pills help in many different ways.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I'm sure I've read that LDN helps with alopecia too. I know I sounds crazy but it helps boost your immune system which helps many different diseases.
