Members reassured someone worried about fibromyalgia leading to Alzheimer's or dementia, with the overwhelming consensus being that there is no known connection and that the forgetfulness they are experiencing is likely fibro fog, a common cognitive symptom that improves with better sleep and lower stress. Several members shared relatable experiences of fibro fog, including forgetting words mid-sentence, missing appointments despite writing them down, struggling with simple math, and feeling utterly frustrated by the mental cloudiness, with many finding relief through treating underlying sleep issues like sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome. A recurring theme was the importance of not letting fibro fog add to existing stress, practicing self-compassion and humor when memory lapses happen, and focusing on practical strategies like deep breathing, meditation, and resetting the mind throughout the day.

I am sure it doesn't. I think what you are worrying about maybe is the dreaded Fibro Fog. You can forget your own name with this. My main problem with it is words, like this morning I said to my hubby "I will just finish this cuppa and then I'll get a taxi" I really wanted to say have a shower but taxi came out, and one day last week I spent five minutes trying to explain that the window cleaner had been, I could recall ladders, making his a coffee but I couldn't have said window cleaner at that point if you had paid me to do so.
I also forget appointment despite them being put down in my diary and on the kitchen calendar, names evade me, I can't add two simple numbers together and I just feel utterly stupid,
So if you are feeling like this and are worried it is dementia or something, I hope this has put your mind at rest.
Gentle hugs ((X))

No No No thanks God!!! I told my g.p 2 years ago I felt like I had early stages dementia, he was very sympathetic and told me its all poor sleep, unrested body. In the fibro world its known as foggy brain or fibro fog. lots of us get cognitive impairment but find when we have a couple of good nights sleep and not much stress we feel it subside.. I hope you go down this road if you feel this way..

I've never heard of a connection between the diseases. Thankfully, we have enough to deal with !!

Poor sleep is definitely a contributor to forgetfulness I just found out I have sleep apnea and restless leg being treated for both now and I feel better and memory has improved I knew I had restless leg but my hubby said I didn't snore so I was amazed to find out I had sleep apnea

No I don't think there is any connection. I think it is what they call fibro fog, something that I don't have very often but it is does embarrass me when it does happen & others don't understand what is wrong that I can't remember simple things until later on. I try & make a joke out of it but it still bothers me. Take care. Carol
