I heard that most Fibro patients have personality traits. I got my Fibro from trauma. Does this rule out personality traits or not? What are the traits?

There are studies that back up your belief, Christine. We tend to be people pleasers and perfectionist to name a few shared traits.
From what I’ve read it seems that we often have a gene and trauma or chronic stress can then turn on that gene. Where others with the same gene may not be exposed to trauma or chronic stress, so the gene does not turn on. 😅
And quite possibly more important than the trauma itself is not having tools or support during and after that trauma.
In other words, well said, I couldn’t agree more. 😂
My father and aunt also share a FMS diagnosis. And much like you experience, we are pretty anxious folks.
I think stress can be a huge factor in fibromyalgia onset and a tendency towards getting it. The trauma people have experienced, autoimmune diseases that often come with it, and a host of other speculations can almost all be considered stressful situations that could potentially cause our condition to occur. I believe that some of us have personalities that are consistently anxious or stressed most of the time. This is just supposition, but I believe people with this type of personality might be more prone to getting fibro. My brother and Dad both have fibro also. Not only does this support the genetic link idea, but they both have the same similar anxious, high stress personalities as I do.
I do feel very strongly that my fibro came at a very stressful time in my life. I agree with Cathy that personality may not play a role but it could be more how our traumas have changed us, and how we coped with the trauma and may not have had the right tools and as a result we’ve developed. I hope that makes sense.
The reason for my fibromyalgia is yet to be determined. I don’t think my personality traits are part of my fibromyalgia.
I also have figured out, when I get stressed or begin to have a heated discussion I start hurting mainly in my neck , shoulders and arms. So I quickly let them know I can't do this and why. My husband has said that if I can start hurting so quickly why can't I stop it as easy. That didn't help or go over very well. It immediately had me thinking he thinks it's all in my head, which hurt my feelings especially since I thought he was more supportive then that. So yes fb has changed me and my personality. Gentle hugs 💜
