Members overwhelmingly agreed that stress is one of the most significant triggers for fibromyalgia flare-ups and pain, with many describing how family dynamics, financial pressures, and daily responsibilities create a relentless cycle of tension that directly worsens their symptoms. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them manage stress-related pain, including setting firm boundaries by saying no to unhealthy relationships or situations, practicing breathing exercises and mindfulness to relax tight muscles, establishing daily routines and quiet time when managing busy households, and recognizing that self-care is not selfish but essential. A recurring theme was the importance of removing toxic stressors from your life when possible, giving yourself grace during difficult seasons, and remembering that taking care of yourself allows you to better handle your responsibilities.

I have noticed after having the most stress ever in my life this past year that stress plays a significant roll on my flare ups. I've noticed the more stress the more pain I have. Im learning that by removing stress from my life, be it people or situations The better I can cope and less pain I have. If you have to walk away from unhealthy relationships/ jobs it will pay off. I can't afford to be stressed/ upset over things any more. It's not worth it and It depleted me. Focusing on the positive things and getting rid of the negative as much as possible has help me a lot!

@A MyFibroTeam Member I remember those days vividly!!! Yuck, I feel for you, tough times, though that kind of attitude, or whatever you'd want to call it does ease. So you do have that to look forward to. My mom had 5 boys and two girls and she said she'd want to raise boys any day over girls. That says a lot. Have a great day!h

@A MyFibroTeam Member she'd complain about her roommates not cleaning up after themselves, garbage and even being sassy (they'd point out each other's moods)...now she's doing same exact thing here. OMG, I just want to scream! And our only rules involve household type, cleaning, picking up after yourself, shutting a drawer or cupboard!!! She's never given us a day of trouble as far as her actions outside the home. Very responsible and driven. And had wonderful friends where their parents were interested and involved in their lives too. So she can come and go as she pleases, all we ask is pick up your darn jacket off the floor, we have hooks!!!!!!! Whew, that felt great thanks for letting me vent! Have a great day!

@A MyFibroTeam Member my youngest daughter and I used to be that way. Constantly locking horns, lol. Now that she's grown, we are very close.
I'm sure it doesn't help that she's been away at college and now home. They get used to being on their own and not having to follow your rules. This too shall pass! Good luck. Don't forget to B R E A T H E.

Stress definitely a major kicker for me. Right now I have a muscle on the right side of my neck to my right shoulder that I don't think has been totally relaxed since summer vacation started. Not only does that mean I have my two teenagers in the house 24/7, but I have to feed them and nag them to do their chores and leave each other alone, etc. My husband's a truck driver, so it's like being a single mom. Unfortunitly he was the stay at home one during the first 13 years of their lives and didn't do a lot with getting chores established ect, so I'm coming into this behind the 8 ball and with teenagers. Also, since I lost my job 2 years ago, I haven't been able to work due to what they did to my professional license and it's just now getting resolved, so we are in debt up to our eyeballs and my falling down the stairs and creating even more bills doesn't help my stress level any. Having gone from being the bread winner to not being able to work, makes me feel useless on top of everything and I just heap more and more stress on the pile.
