Members shared their experiences finding medications that manage fibromyalgia pain without causing debilitating brain fog or memory loss, with many praising the combination of Lyrica with either Duloxetine or Gabapentin as effective alternatives to opiates. Several members described supplementing their medications with B-complex vitamins, vitamin D, B12 shots, and turmeric to combat fatigue and cognitive difficulties, while others mentioned Tramadol as a lower-level controlled substance option and Adderall or Provigil for fighting the constant exhaustion. A recurring theme was the shared struggle of finding doctors who truly listen and the difficult balance between managing severe chronic pain and maintaining quality of life, memory, and the ability to be present for loved ones.

Well, I'm taking Duloxitine and Neurontin. I was having a lot of issues with lack of energy and brain fog. I didn't want to change those meds because they help me so much with pain. I started consistently taking vitamins like a multi, B complex, D vitamins, and recently added Ginko Biloba. I have much more energy and the brain fog is not as severe. I am able to at least track a conversation without checking out of the conversation. I had been going to regular PCP for care and quite frankly he was no help at all. I switched doctors and my new doc referred me to pain management specialist. He got me off all opiates and put me on the Gabapentin and Duloxitine and it has worked wonders. I also learned that Opiates will make fibro worse in the long-run. I have other chronic pain issues with my back but I am diligent about working out doing something and those things are better as well.

I haven't tried Provigil but I pushed for Adderall because some studies said its more helpful for brain fog than Provigil. Adderall is harder to get prescribed though. You need an understanding Dr and the free pamphlet from NFP (Nat. Fibro Partnership). On the back lists meds used to treat Fibro and these two are on it. Plus some printed research studies about adderall & provigil being helpful for fatigue and pain. Bring it all to your Dr

At the moment, I take co-codamol, the one without the caffeine. I visited my dr when was really low from constant pain, he said he could prescribe me Valium, I didn't take his offer, as I need to be as functional as possible,(as we all do). It's bad enough when my foggy head and exhaustion Set's in, couldn't imagine being any more redundant.

I take Tramadol ER 300 mg at bedtime, I also take a megga B complex and extra B12. Have they checked your Vitimin D ? that can increase pain, fatigue and brain fog. Also your Thryoid and cortisol levels. Turmeric or Curium can help with pain as well as a I suplement End Pain I have gotten off Pro Health web site. I do find when I am fatigued a B12 shot helps me a lot.
