Members shared diverse approaches to diet and exercise when dealing with severe leg pain, with many emphasizing the importance of finding what works individually through patient trial and error. Several members found relief through dietary changes like eliminating wheat, sugar, and processed foods, with one member losing 30 pounds over a year and progressing from needing frequent rest breaks to jogging a mile three times weekly. Water exercise, yoga, short walking intervals, resistance bands, and topical pain relief were repeatedly mentioned as accessible options, with the recurring encouragement to start small, listen to your body during flares, and persist despite setbacks.

I was told by my rheumatologist that exercise in water helps the most because the water helps to buffer the body plus provides resistance as well

You do have to find what works for you, doctors kept telling me my weight was a huge factor in my pain, I went as far as to have weightloss surgery and found that my weight did not affect my pain levels at all and now I deal with side effects/complications from that surgery. I believe the answers for management will be different for everyone so it's a long process of trial and error.

Yes I live in a senior home where they have exercise bikes and there's a balcony around the indoor part of our apartment so I will walk around it once or twice depending on how I feel and plus I use their bikes I also got the exercise bands and use them when I don't feel like I can get up I can stretch without walking and just use them on both legs and stretch and I can sit down to do it. Good luck on your venture just try what everybody suggests until you find what works for you good luck and God bless

1 month ago I started seeing a Naturopathic Dr. Eliminated Wheat, sugar, potatos, white rice, corn and limited amts of dairy. Walk 1/2 hour per day. Do 3-10 minute walks if you must. I used a walker because I also have arthritis in the spine, hips, knees. Now I can go without it. It's not easy to eliminate these foods, especially bread (for me) but the results are in...less pain and down 8lbs.

I think water exercise is the best but that can be hard you have to leave your house change for pool change again when you get out and drive home.....Yoga is also good and a little more convenient as you can do it right at home....amazing the difference just basic stretching and balancing will do.
