I use a cherry pit bag that I heat in the microwave to apply directly to specific painful areas. I have a Sunbeam heating pad for larger areas. An electric blanket is nice during the winter months but I rarely use because it's just too warm for me.

I use a heating pad a great deal, but have to fight my cat for it. I call the heating pad "Sophy's BFF". I also use ice packs. I learned in a pain management class that the heat (or cold) helps cancel out the body's pain signals. Sometimes it works.

I have a heat pad which works really well on bad aches such as back, hips and neck. I find it gives me great relief and temperature can be altered to suit you and your level of pain .
