When you ache and have joint pain what do you use heat or ice.
I can't use a hot water bottle due to having a rash reaction to it last year. Can't remember the name but if you search the Internet for hot water bottle rash
I use heat. I take the hottest shower I can tolerate; seems to help for a while. Can't do cold,brings on more pain. I also have a heating pad I use. Although Bio Freeze helps at times,but you have to get it from a chiropractor etc, can't be store bought.
I have tried the rice packs. You can make them with rice and a new tube sock. If you sew you can get fancy .
Rice packs do work but I hate the smell of the hot uncooked rice, plus having to get up and microwave to keep a consistent temp.
Was literally a pain.
So I went back to my electric blanket, warm baths and electric heating pad.
@A MyFibroTeam Member, yes rice bags are great either hot or cold and are super easy to make.
@A MyFibroTeam Member, same.
Yesterday my feet hurt so much that I soaked them in cold water, that helped.
Lately, when I hurt all over, a hot bath with scented epsom salts feels good which in a way, lessens the pain.
I also bought an electric heating pad and love it! My dog does too as he sits with me throughout my sleepless nights! :)
I use heated rice bags; heating pad (sometimes with a moist wash rag inside it); ice packs on my neck, head, upper back, shoulders, low back, knees, shins, calves, thighs, everywhere. Sometimes it depends on what my internal temperature is stuck on that day and sometimes it depends if I feel swollen and need to use ice for inflammation or heat to relax.
For me, I go back and forth between heat and cold.
Depends on the area.
Joints in hands or knees = ice
Muscle pain and back= heat.
My daughter bought me a tens unit = wow!
