Also, a lot of people give up on Gabapentin/neurontin before they reach the correct levels. In order to not body slam you into the side effects of a swimming head, dizziness, feeling unbalanced, etc the doctor should start you slowly with like 100MG 2x a day, then 100 am and 300 pm and keep increasing over a few months. Because gabapentin is not really effective on neuropathic pain until you are taking 1800mg a day. The max you can take per day is typically 3600mg. When you first start it you will probably have those side effects, but they usually aren't bad and go away quick. My dad was put on it and they started him on 300 which they shouldn't have because he also has vertigo. He walked like a drunk man all day. But when I gave him a few of my 100s he did fine.

Sandi,
Effexor and Wellburtin combined has helped me and I haven't gained weight. Gabapentin made me pack on the weight rapidly and it didn't work for the pain. But, some people find it very helpful.

Reading this for the 1st time ,I'm finally realizing why I have gained so much weight ,it is the Gabapentin , now I have to decide if I can handle the pain or deal with the weight. I watch my diet for the last 8 months ,nothing. Spoke to my Doc. , about my weight , she said nothing . I'm really upset ,I should have been told . Thank you .
