Has anyone ever sought out help from a counselor or psychiatrist or psychologist to help deal with the depression that comes with Fibromyalgia. I've been working hard at trying to remain positive but it feels like a losing battle sometimes. My husband suggested that may be I should see someone who could possibly help me with the tools to cope.
I have been to counseling numerous times over the years as well as a psychiatrist. I have found it to be very helpful. I am also on medication for depression and anxiety. Don't be ashamed to see someone!
I pray pray and pray some more, and always find peace, comfort and strength. God bless you and your family.
I have been seeing a therapist for years. Also a psychiatrist for my meds. I don't think I would have made it this far if I had not had their help. There has been a lot of loss with this illness.I will probably always need some help to find my way. That is why this community is so helpful. No Judgement and people can relate..
I see a phsyciatrist, and it helps so much to express pain, mood, depression, wasting difficulties, etc. She is my lifeline. The only place I can be me, and not have to hide what I am doing, saying, or feeling. Awesome feeling. Somerimes I just sit in her office and cry.
I have been helped by taking antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication. I also see a therapist. Like Fibromate said there is no judgment. My therapist also tells me options that I have that I may not have recognized and then leaves it to me to decide my course of action. You may have a mental health clinic in your community that gives services on a sliding scale, or talk to your therapist about reductng her fees.
