I was just wondering does anyone else have trouble with excessive sweating? I never used to have this problem, but it's probably been going on as long as I've dealt with Fibro. Anytime I try to do something like clean house, wash dishes or put groceries away I sweat like I'm in a sauna. I'm just dripping and I don't understand it. My apartment is kept on the cooler side because I like cool. Could it be related to Fibro? Does anyone else have this problem?

Members connected deeply over the frustrating and embarrassing experience of excessive sweating with fibromyalgia, with many describing profuse sweating from even minimal activities like shopping, showering, or sitting still, particularly affecting the head and face. Several members shared practical coping strategies including carrying baby wipes, flannels, or damp washcloths, wearing cotton clothing, using antiperspirants instead of deodorants, trying cooling pillow mats, and researching prescription-strength products, while one member explained that the sweating stems from autonomic nerve dysfunction affecting the body's internal thermostat. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of feeling embarrassed in public, avoiding social situations like meals out, and the challenge of looking presentable when constantly drenched, yet finding comfort in knowing they are not alone in this struggle.

Since this subject has come up several times I have been researching it. This is a answer I found from a Dr ........
Sweating problems are common in FM because of the autonomic nerve dysfunction. The sweat glands receive nerve supply from specific autonomic nerves called sympathetic sudomotor nerves. Sweating regulates our body temperature (called thermoregulation). In FM, dysutonomia is present and causes too much sweating usually, but sometimes the opposite occurs and our skin can be too dry.

Throw in the usual suspects that overstimulate our autonomics: weather changes, heat, sunlight, certain meds esp SSRI's & SNRI's, position changes i.e. laying down, stress, exercise attempts, etc. and we become bona fide sweating machines!

Treatments for excessive sweating are limited. I advise my patients to avoid aggravating factors if they can, use antiperspirants not deodorants, and sometimes an anti-cholinergic medicine can be tried. Work with your doc."

Looks to me like the Dr who said stop using deodorant should have said try antiperspirant. I am going to keep researching because I so want to stop this symptom or at least make it happen less often.

A bunch of us just had a discussion on this very thing a few days ago. Yes, a lot of us do have excessive sweating. Almost any exertion and I will be dripping with sweat. The part I hate most is when I'm in a store shopping and I break out in a sweat. By the time I leave I look like I went swimming because my hair is soaked. That especially happens if I have to stand in line at a check out, I call it stress sweat then. I get a lot of stares too because my face will be red as if I just ran around the store a few times. I have started carrying a damp washcloth with me when I go shopping. It doesn't stop it but it helps me feel better. I sweat everywhere when this happens but the most is at my head.

I'd suggest getting your Vit D3 checked. It's a common Dificiency in fibromyalgia and a symptom of D3 Dificiency xx

Yes I do. You hit on all areas including sweating right after taking a shower. I've had this since my diagnosis of Fibro. Peace and blessings.

Ok, funny but not funny. Decided I needed to shave my legs today(which is always fun trying to do). I had to take a cold shower to cool off. Might have to rethink this shaving thing. 😜
