When I go to bed at night as I lay down I feel as though my sheets have sand or grit all over them and I experience great discomfort and am unable to go to sleep for about 2 hours or more. Not sure what is happening and some nights are worse than others. Any ideas on how or what to do? Feel as if I am the princess and the pea living the story for real. Members shared practical solutions for managing the uncomfortable sensation of sheets feeling gritty or irritating at bedtime, a common fibromyalgia symptom often described as the princess and the pea syndrome. Several members recommended switching to softer bedding materials like flannel, fleece, jersey sheets, or high thread count Egyptian cotton, while others found relief through weighted blankets, electric blankets for warmth, or ensuring sheets are wrinkle-free and shaken out daily. A recurring theme was that many members also struggle with clothing sensitivities and have found ways to cope through fabric choices, temperature control, and medications like gabapentin, though some noted that cannabis cream and antihistamines like Benadryl have also provided comfort.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have this problem even with certain material on my clothing. Most days I walk around in my underwear and a cotton tight tank top. I can't stand anything rubbing on my skin. I also have Egyptian sheets or silk and I put a heavy blanket on top so that it doesn't move around on my skin. I take my sheets off the bed everyday and shake them out and put them on so there's no wrinkles. I have a routine every night.

I use warm soft light blankets.(.light fleece ) .for my sheets.. I use a electric blanket..but just to warm it up when I get in..then turn it off...I have a electric blanket that is not on top of me but looks like a sheet with corners..so it underneath.blankets..because the heat can reduce pain..and other symptoms..but I did find out for me..that blankets need to be light weight..good luck..gentle hugs your way..♥
