For about a month now I started having elbow pain that may run up my arm in my muscle or down to forearm muscle and hand mainly on the left side. Yesterday and today it's become unbearable.... using my arms makes it wrose, so driving has become painful, doing the dishes hurts makes it worse and than also makes my the spot on the right around the shoulder blade burn. I was diagnosed with fibro 2 year ago but just recently was seen by the chronic pain centre. Now they are not sure what is going… read more

Members responded to someone struggling with severe elbow and arm pain that worsened with daily activities, offering both practical relief strategies and important diagnostic advice. Several members recommended Aspercreme with lidocaine for nerve pain relief, Copper Wear elbow sleeves for support, and medications like Lyrica or gabapentin, while sharing their own experiences with similar symptoms that turned out to be tennis elbow, tendonitis, or epicondylitis rather than fibromyalgia. A recurring theme was the critical importance of getting proper medical evaluation rather than assuming all pain is fibro-related, with members urging follow-up with doctors for potential cortisone injections or other targeted treatments since not all arm pain stems from fibromyalgia.

I too have sore elbows and shoulder, I am seeing my doc tuesd for an injection, as like you its affecting my ability to raise my arm, stretch out my arm and pick up objects,, I think its tennis or golf elbow, quite different to fibro but a type of osteoarthritis, he might say its epicondilits which isn,t fbro related, I elbow my way around most of the time and so I think I,ve worn away joints that can be eased with cortisone if you g.p will give it. I,ve rather have a nasty cold than pain!! You an get rid of a cold easy

The other thing he prescribed was prednisone 50mg for 5 days, the next day...no pain which leads me to think that there might be something eles going on?!?. No pain but now have a wicked cold. It's a catch 22!

Get it checked out. It may be tendonitis (i.e. "tennis elbow"). I ignored mine for too long and had to have surgery to correct it. Fibro causes a lot of pain, but not all pain is due to fibro.
