Members overwhelmingly identified Lyrica as a common culprit behind swollen feet and ankles, with many sharing they had to reduce their dose, stop the medication entirely, or add a diuretic to manage the edema. Several members offered practical relief strategies including compression socks, elevating legs above the heart, epsom salt foot baths, limiting salt intake, staying hydrated, and switching shoes throughout the day to keep blood circulating. A recurring theme was the importance of ruling out serious underlying causes such as kidney or liver issues, heart problems, blood clots, or incompetent venous valves, with strong encouragement to consult a doctor for proper evaluation rather than dismissing persistent swelling as just another fibromyalgia symptom.

Right now, my feet and the calves of my legs hurt bad and are swollen. Could barely get on a pair of shoes, today. The pill for Restless Legs Syndrome isn't helping as much. I think that this chair "I'm glued to" while at the laptop isn't helping. When I get up and walk around, this helps. Then there is the "torture chamber." My bed. It always hurts worse then. As bad as I feel now, I'm not looking forward to "worse."
Everyone get well and have a Fibro. FREE Friday. God Bless.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, :-o That's horrible! She as much as called you a "liar!" Please look up 'Rhuematologist ' in your area. There should be a small questionnaire. Find this person's name and give a report! There are "Five Stars" to give them a rating. Even a space for up to 300 words. I wrote about my Neurologist and sent in report. **I gave them NO "star." Report them, Amy! You are--WERE her *patient." Now, a "patient" is no more than a "customer." I don't know if the "professionals" see what I wrote. I didn't care. They make money off of our visits! Today, it seems like the trend is: "The Millionaire Doctor." I do hope you find someone who will be compassionate and try to HELP you, Amy. If nothing else, this list of doctors with now or past patients' reports will let you know in advance as to whether you should see "Dr. Doe" listed. **Look at the number of "Stars" given and read any reports. This at least gives you an idea as to who NOT to see.
As far as Lyrica, the side effects are not good. The doctor who first prescribed this to me did so "very slowly," in small amounts I asked, "Why?" He said that Lyrica CAN cause problems with vision *in some people. I don't think he meant "blurred vision," either. As for me, my hair kept coming out! I stopped taking *Lyrica and have used a hormonal treatment on my scalp after almost every shampoo! This has been for at least 7 years! The hair has seemed to stop falling out. I can chance going one--maybe two times without using *Fermodyl (sp?) on my scalp. But I don't chance it too long. The "wide part" is now gone, meaning some hair grew back. Even now, it's much thinner than before taking *Lyrica. To me: "Poison!" Amy, I hope you find someone who IS a real professional. Please keep me informed. Agape.

The Rhuematologist thought there was something else going on that's why my feet swell. She said oh well you could have something seriously wrong. Are you being honest about what's going on with you. Do you need to tell us something??! I said like what!! Then I said you know what. My ankles have been swelling since I have been taking Lyrica! I called the Doctor about it and he said to keep taking it. My syptoms would go away. Well they haven't I told her. Now that my body is killing me the Rhuematologist won't call me back! Great Doctor Hugh! Don't anyone see Karen Neveau in Burlington. She is degrading and cruel?

EjParker, thanks. I'll try about anything and have tried about anything except for elevating them at night. Will give it a try. Thanks again.

O' Angie. That's terrible! I don't know if you already do this, but try sleeping with a pillow under *your thighs. For me, it helps lessen pain from my back. I have to get my feet JUST in the right position. I even have a small sofa pillow at the foot in middle of bed to rest my feet on. The bottom of my feet just touch the pillow. This gives them support while sleeping. There are also pillows stacked up on each side of the bed, bringing up the covers so my feet don't "get crushed." After foot surgery some time ago, I had to make some changes in the way I make my bed. Some days are better. Some--not sure. Others, WONDERFUL! So it's "hit or miss."
I hope you feel better soon! God Bless.
