Members overwhelmingly recommended seeing a rheumatologist or neurologist for fibromyalgia treatment, with many emphasizing the importance of calling ahead to confirm the doctor treats fibro patients and finding someone who genuinely listens. Several members shared practical advice for navigating the diagnostic process, including bringing a list of questions, expecting bloodwork and physical exams to rule out other conditions, and understanding that some doctors may order brain MRIs to check for lesions or other underlying issues. A recurring theme was that quality care often requires a team approach, with members describing how their primary care doctors, pain specialists, rheumatologists, and neurologists work together to provide comprehensive support.

Defiantly get a GOOD rheumatologist. Maybe one that is both a pain dr and rheumatologist.

I see a rheumatologist and a neurologist. My neurologist diagnosed me but they also think I have psoriatic arthritis. I think the rheumatologist would be best, if you can find a good one.

I see a PC, a Pain doctor who really helps me with many of my needs. And of course a surgeon for my knees and a surgeon for my shoulder since my shoulder will most likely be replaced within the next year. Oh and my shrink for my anxiety and depression!

you definitely need a neurologist as they can take MRIs of the brain and check for lesions to make sure that nothing else is going on I see my neurologist every 2 to 3 months and about every 6 months they take an MRI to see if the legions have gotten any bigger and to see if they need to change my meds good luck my prayers are with you
