Members shared diverse experiences with hormone replacement therapy during menopause, with many describing how HRT helped reduce debilitating hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings that intensified their fibromyalgia symptoms. Several members discussed alternatives they tried, including natural remedies like Black Cohosh, Wild Yam cream, and Red Clover, with mixed results—some found relief through herbal supplements while others needed prescription estradiol or bioidentical hormones to manage severe symptoms. A recurring theme was the belief that hormonal changes and fibromyalgia are deeply intertwined, with many members noticing their fibromyalgia worsened around menopause, and emphasizing the importance of weighing personal risks and benefits when deciding whether to pursue HRT.

I was on Premarin at 47 due to a total hysterectomy because of fibroids. I didn't like it, so I went the natural way and it worked well for me. Go to a health food/nutrition store and read about the herbs, Black Cohosh, Wild Yam cream which you rub into your skin, Red Clover, St John's wort for moods. That's was ten years ago, now I don't use anything because the symptoms died down.
Good luck to you,
Brenda

I went through early menopause due to ovarian failure, I chose not to have HRT due to other issues. I found that with some antidepressants for the brain fog, but just going through it, I only had menopause symptoms for 7 months. I know those that are still having symptoms after a few years and on HRT. I hope this helps

well if you have Fibromyalgia and are also going through menopause then I say they go together. I had to start on HRT in December I was not sleeping at all and was having terrible night sweats. I have heard Black Cohosh is supposed to be helpful and there is also Maca powder to try, but those didn't help me. Since then the HRT helped a lot and helps me to cope with Fibro better.
