Not a part of fibro but one of the conditions that are often also had by people with fibro. My understanding is that the number of people with asthma are increasing. I don't remember the theory of why that is but I beleive live style had something to do with it.
i developed asthma, they call it stress asthma, and if I'm in a small not well ventilated space and there's smoking, deodorant, hair spray being used it sets me off.
That is a very good question! I had chronic bronchitis as a child and pneumonia several times. I wasn't diagnosed with asthma until I was an adult. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia a few years later in 1996. A few years ago I was hospitalized over night for observation for chest pain and the chest Xray showed mild COPD. I have never smoked, but was raised by smokers, so was exposed all of my childhood.I have to have inhalers certain times of the year, and a few years ago we remodeled our house and pulled carpet the dust and paint was terrible. I had to have an inhaler then. I haven't had pneumonia since 2003.
I have two children who had it really bad when they were children and my husband was diagnosed with it when he was in his late 50s or early 60s. From the reading I've done, it runs in families.
