Flare Up
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I read a lot about flare ups. What exactly does that mean?

Hi, well with me I have only developed an awareness of how it starts. And I don't know just why they start. But, with my pain flares I start feeling a temp change. When they started regularly a woman I worked with told me she knew when they started as I would start rubbing my legs and arms while deep in constration going over hazardous waste manifests. Very technical work I did at that time. Just her mentioning that observation woke me up to what was the beginning of my esculating "Chronic Pain Flares."
These days since I have retired I can concentrate on my maintenance life style. Now I know just when to take my Vicodin, before they get out of control. Therefore, I usually don't have to take as much and they don't get as bad.
It took many years for Mr to get this understanding. In those days (early 90s) the doctors kept telling me it was all in my head.
You are fortunate that these days they have good protocols in place to go by.v zexcrpt for all the drugs they want to give one.
I hope my story will help you in some way.
Your friend.

You ever have a couple days where you feel ok, the pain is at a low and you almost feel normal, smiling a little bit more maybe got ambitious and decided to be more productive. But then you wake up and feel like you were beat by a pillow case full of door knobs while carrying a 500lb person! That's a flare up!!

We all have different flare up I get muscle spasms in my legs and my back and shoulders and arms more aggressive at night when it's time to go to sleep and then I wake up the next morning so tired because haven't been able to go to sleep it's very important to try to keep a journal of your flare ups or how you're feeling because also with the tiredness and the 50 you can also suffer from depression so start a little Journal and write everything down because sometimes we forget I do that a lot sending gentle hugs and lots of love also learn how to pace yourself don't over work yourself because that can cause flare ups

I often have sweats and chills, but more often i know it's coming when I simply cannot get comfortable in any position. That's when it's time for my vicodin or else.
