I shall be visiting relatives for a few days and know that I will need to sleep on an air bed. I have fibromyalgia and arthritis. Have any of you tried sleeping on an air bed? And how was it? What are your tips for staying comfortable?

Members shared mixed experiences with air beds when managing fibromyalgia and arthritis, with most finding the sleeping part surprisingly comfortable, especially when the mattress wasn't pumped to full firmness or placed on a frame at normal bed height. Several members emphasized that while rest was generally good and some even noticed less stiffness due to the gentle movement of the air, the biggest challenge was getting in and out of a low mattress on the floor, which proved difficult for those with joint pain and mobility issues. A recurring theme was that success depended on the type and setup of the air bed, with taller or double air beds on frames being more manageable than single mattresses placed directly on the ground.

I have also slept on an air bed and I found it quite restful but as was previously said, getting up and getting into bed was let's say difficult.
I hope this helps

I own a sleep number bed which is slightly different but I love it. I can pump it up full or let the air out till I feel comfortable. With the air beds I'm not sure if you have to fill them up completely. Good luck.

I have used an air bed, but didn't pump it up full, so it was still soft. Slept fine on it.

It was put on a frame type size like a regular bed so I didn't have the problem too much getting up. Otherwise I would have though.
