Yes, I feel disoriented or dizzy very often and it gives me anxiety as well. It happened before I started any meds, and it still happens now that I take anxiety medication. I just don't like the spacey feeling.

I get dizzy a lot. Pretty much every time I stand up. Vertigo is common with fibro. Some meds can increase the dizziness. Cymbalta has a side effect of dizziness.

Try getting up slowly. Anticipating the dizziness will help.

Are you anxious about the dizziness? Your Cymbalta should calm you down some. I thought you just started it. Anxiety accompanies fibromyalgia. If your anxiety doesn't improve after taking Cymbalta for awhile, you might want to talk to doctor. The only reason to wait is to see if Cymbalta helps.

However, IF you are really scared, tell your doctor as soon as possible. He can always give you a small prescription of Xanax that will knock out your anxiety. It can also make you very sleepy, so it's not something to take if you have to drive, work, or anything that takes thought.

Having fibromyalgia is very hard. If you are just learning you have it, it is daunting. But if you find the right balance of meds, activity, rest, etc, you can have a level of function in your life. You will need help from your family, their love and support. If you've been very active they may have trouble understanding, since people with fibro almost NEVER look sick.

Also, consider going to a rheumatologist. It does depend on if your doctor is well versed in the drugs to help treat fibro. Cymbalta and Lyrica are good.

You aren't going to die from fibro. As far as I know, it doesn't shorten a person' life span. I'll be thinking about you!
