Tattoos
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I read an article that multiple tattoos can increase a persons pain tolerance. I have one, but wonder if more would help. Is it true?

Even if it could help build up a tolerance to pain, I don't feel like it would help with our kind of pain. I don't know if that makes sense but, to me, there's a difference between building up a tolerance to getting pinched for example, compared to having this widespread pain that really isn't being externally done to us.

I have 4 of them. I know that right after I got one, my pain decreased due to the adrenaline. My tats didn't hurt that bad, but then again I gave natural birth to two of my sons. One was 7lbs 14oz and the other was 9lbs 3ozs. The constant sores in my mouth and tongue hurt worse than my tattoos because I never live without them.

I've got 3 and it makes no difference to my pain tolerance

I wish. I have 7 and there is no change to my pain tolerance. It all depends on where I have them as to whether they hurt any more, but my fibro has continued in it's own special wee world separate from anything I try.

I've got lots of tattoos. In the last 3 years the pain has been unbearable where before that I laid for 2 hours getting side done with no problem. Use a numbing cream as that will reduce the pain a lot
