Has anyone experienced problems with teeth that are extremely sensitive and a mouth that feels like it's burnt.
many dentists have samples of Biotene mouthwash, toothpaste and a moisturizing gel. Ask for a sample of that. I have to take a medication that produces saliva because I have Sjogrens (pronounced show grins). I have to use Restasis eye drops for dry eyes, Pilocarpine for lack of saliva (I cant swallow food at times and my throat gets so dry even water seems to 'burn' when I do drink) and to help with digestion and use feminine moisturizers or I am prone to infections from lack of moisture. Also a lubricant for intimate time...most of the time. The dryness effects every moist area of your body including your organs so the digestive stuff was causing many problems for me. Drinking water is great but sometimes it seems like it is just not enough!
A good dentist will know if you are clenching or grinding. An appliance to wear will stop the sensitivity. Use sensydyne toothpaste.. Don't use products with alcohol in them. I would use a very plain toothpaste. No whitening, tartar control etc. I am a dental hygienist and though I'm guessing at what's going on, This should help.
i feel like mine is always dry, i had to change my toothpaste which has seemed to help some.
Ellen I am familiar with the sensation you are referring to - I have CFS and when it is flaring that sensation is particularly bad - I can't say that I have found any real treatment or relief for it - I thought about investing in a bottle of Biotene but like I said, that is an INVESTMENT and I already have umpteen bottles of this, that and the other thing for fibro (etc.) that have been worthless. Basically I drink a lot of ice water - sorry I am not more help!
I've always had a very sensitive mouth--teeth and gums. I have little enamel left which makes cold food and beverages unbearable. I was also given toothpaste for the sensitivity a long time ago but did not keep up with it. Good luck!
