I learned today that I probably have IC. More tests on Monday. Can someone fill me about the test and possible treatments?

Members shared their experiences with interstitial cystitis diagnosis and treatment, with several describing the cystoscopy procedure used to examine the bladder, along with treatments like hydrodistention, DMSO cocktails, and medications such as antibiotics and Flomax. Many members described common symptoms including frequent urination, burning sensations after urinating or intercourse, bladder spasms, and pelvic pain, with some finding relief through cranberry capsules, pelvic floor physical therapy, or prescription medications like hyoscyamine. A recurring theme was the unpredictable nature of IC flares, often triggered by stress, medical procedures, or surgery like hysterectomy, and the importance of seeing a specialist to find treatments that work for each individual's situation.

Good afternoon ladies , as I was reading this tread , a spinning red light went off in my head ... Ding , ding , ding ... We have a winner here ! I too experience that painful sensation after urination , or I feel like I have to urinate , shuffle my way to the potty in a not so fashionable way only to find out , its a false alarm .. Gahhh!!! Also, little bit of TMI here , small children please go watch TV for a minute , .... After sexual intercourse, I get a burning sensation , same sensation after urinating only on the cervical level , it can last for minutes to hours . Truly the most terrible feeling especially when the bladder decides to join the party . So, my question is ... Does anyone else experience this ? Its ok for the children to come back now 😯. I have to catheterize myself from time to time due to a very lazy bladder and damage due to the nerve that tell my bladder , Hey .. Its time to empty ... I'm going to bust any minute here !! The nerve was damaged during a lower back surgery and further damage was done partly by my own body raging its own war , and partly during my hysterectomy . Time for me to get this day started correctly ! I tried a while ago and wound
up falling to my .. Yup you got it .. My face . My glasses survived so were all good,.

Have a great day ladies 😊

If you go to the Mayo clinic site, they have a good description of what it is, what tests are done and how it is treated. I had two hydro distentions done. The second was followed by DMSO Coctails inserted into bladder once a month. Worked well for me.
