He gave me a prescription of savella. Does anyone had this before?.

I started a month ago. Took away most of pain but side effects of tachycardia (fast heart rate) and raising blood pressure made me reduce dose to 12.5 mg once a day.
Savella: "Milnacipran is used to treat pain caused by a condition called fibromyalgia that affects the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and supporting tissues.
This medication is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) that works by helping to restore the balance of certain natural substances in the brain (neurotransmitters)." Hope this helps
I am currently taking Savella. It has some side effects but fewer and less intensive than other medications. I have been taking it for going on 2 years. I think it helped me a lot during the first year I was on it. It probably took about a month to really notice a difference. Now, I don't feel it is helping me as much, but I hear a lot of people say that any medication they are taking for Fibromyalgia loses its potency after a while. I would be glad to answer any other questions you might have about Savella as it relates to my experiences.
My pain management doctor made me try this and Lyrica before he would move on to pain meds. Both medicines put me through two very bad flares. I don't suggest either meds. Of course people have had bad side effects from Gabapentin too. I have never had any issues with it.
When I started to take it, it took about a good month before I could tell a difference with my symptoms. The side effects were not that bad and I got over them for the most part in that same amount of time. Hot flashes on rare occasions is all I deal with now as far as a side effect. Just give it some time. Good luck.
I tried it, but my blood pressure, which is a problem for me, went up and I got palpitations. I did feel like I had more energy the short time I was on it.
