Hi, just wanted to let you know I've started using something called Actipatch. I don't know if you can get this in the States, you can attach it to your back or any source of pain. It is an electromagnetic pulse therapy based thing, completely drug free. I've only been using for four days now but am noticing the difference, believe me! I strongly recommend this as you can go out and about and do your normal things. Hope this will help you. Would you let me know?

Narcotics nope not here where I live at all....they will give u cymbalta, lyrica those types of meds. But for pain you stay away from things that trigger you, u get some type of exercise otherwise listen to your body.

I'm not big on taking drugs myself. My body doesn't react well to many things almost worse than dealing with severe pain but I relented. And have no regrets most days. I was originally prescribed Lyrica bad reaction, I nortriptyline same reaction but I was falling down dropping things etc. I am on a combo of topiramate 25mg and 400mg gabapentin. I went to cedar Sinai in the USA pain for diagnosis after a severe car accident and multiple problems on being in Canada they thought I might have MS. Not the case. Damaged thalamus and severe fibromyalgia along with migraine syndrome and other issues. Cedars took me off nortriptyline immediately weaned me off I felt terrible fluish but that went away in a week. No drugs I agree are better but to function sometimes it is necessary.

Lyrica and gabapentin help a lot of people with pain. Their side effects can be rough for some people, others find them easy to tolerate.

Marijuana is also an option, depending on your location. The side effects are generally much, much easier to handle if you can safely procure it. Caveat emptor.

Some people find SNRIs help with pain. Savella and Cymbalta are approved for Fibro, there are others on the market as well, such as Effexor. For a variety of reason (genetic, environmental) some SNRIs work better for some people than other.

Finally, low dose naltrexone is definitely worth talking to your doctor about. Few side effects, and cheap.

I have tried a few pain medications and they do not take away the pain. What's the point? I do take medication to keep my anxiety under control which probably helps the pain.
