Degenerative Bone, Arthritis
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just recently got my results of a bone scan. I have degeneration in the sternum, left knee, right shoulder, right hip and both feet. Basically arthritis. Anyone else have the same kind of issues with fibro. I'm wondering if this is part of it.

@A MyFibroTeam Member the first operation on my neck was a success and had to be done (C5/C6 disc) as my shoulder was completely weakened, all the way down to my arm & fingers as there was so much nerve damage. Second surgery (C6/C7) I don't believe worked as am still in lots of pain/pins & needles down to finger tips and weakness. The healing process was not the best to say the least. Sometimes you're able to avoid surgery; for me (I was 36 at the time) I would do anything to attempt to stop feeling as disabled as possible.... If that makes sense? Make sure you have a fantastic Neurosurgeon (or better still, 2 opinions) on the pro's cons xx

Hi there, unfortunately yes. At 38 due to degenerative discs I've had 4 disc replacements (2 in my neck, 2 in my lower spine) - I had these before diagnosed. Whilst in the process of being diagnosed, after a full body scan I have 1 more herniated disc, arthritis in my neck, shoulders, cervical spine, ankles and wrists. Unfortunately I don't think this is uncommon. Very frightening I know x

I have DDD and had a neck fusion in 2009. I had my back fusion in 2010. I am 44. Except for overuse of my arm and hand, the neck is better. However, the back didn't work. I had to retire early on a disability retirement. I was approved for short term disability and am now applying for long term disability. That is from a policy I had through my employer. I've also applied for Social security disability mainly to get Medicare. I was denied, then appealed and was denied again and now I wait for a hearing.

I have the osteoarthritis and bulging disks. I also have thoracic scoliosis from the tight muscles.

Same as me unfortunately - neck is very severe - lots of pain - if you have fibro you more than likely also have arthritis
