Many community members responded to the question about balance and dizzy spells by confirming that dizziness, vertigo, and clumsiness are very common experiences with fibromyalgia, offering both comfort and practical tips. Several members shared helpful strategies including wearing shoes indoors for better stability, taking medications like Meclizine or Serc for vertigo, and looking up the Epley maneuver on YouTube to address inner ear issues. A recurring theme was the importance of being cautious in risky situations like showering or driving, and checking for related causes such as low blood pressure, B12 deficiency, or medication side effects.

Definitely! I regularly experience lightheadedness, dizziness, strange vertigo type sensations, etc. Going up and down stairs really messes with my vision and balance. I also lose my balance while standing still often.

I didn't realize that was part of my fibro! I do have balance and dizzy spells, also. I have anxiety pretty bad and was told that causes the balance to be off.

Side effects of medications can cause these sensations. Lyrica made me get off balance. Taking a shower can drop your blood pressure and make you light headed. Vertigo , when the world spins, is an inner ear problem. Try seeing if the problem is an otolith in your semicircular ear canal by watching YouTube video on how to get the otolith out. Called Epley maneuver. Have someone spot you do you don't fall off the bed!

I have the dizzy issue as well. Have to take Serc for inner ear problems. I just woke up one morning and when I got out of bed the world was spinning. Seems to be getting worse again even though on Serc.

Oh yes, my roommate keeps asking me if I've been drinking 'cause I keep losing my balance. It's really bad in the shower for some reason.
