I recently posted a question regarding torn rotator cuff but today I got my results finally. I have bursitis in my right shoulder. Does anyone else suffer from this? I wonder how common it is. Also my Dr wants me to do physio. Honestly I'm afraid to move it and can't imagine exercising it making it better. But who am I. Just the patient right!

I think doing my range of motion stretches and strength are the answer
Bursitis is where the joint is in shoulder there is a sacred to cushion the shoulder and help with movement. When that becomes inflamed it feels like sand paper and lots of pain in the shoulder as a result. Anti inflammatory meds are suppose to help but from what I've been reading fibro can aggravate it and make it worse the an someone without fibro having bursitis. Once you have it you got it. It can come and go. At least that's what my doctor said.
@A MyFibroTeam Member I hope you found the surgery was helpful and you are having less pain. The fibro seems to cause the soft tissue surrounding the surgery site to become inflamed so if the Dr has you taking an antiinflammatory be certain that you do not miss a dose. I will be keeping you in my thoughts.
I had a frozen shoulder on left side and now right side is hurting same. I let it go so long before getting treatment is why it froze. I had to have surgery to break the adhesions and then 3 months of pt. so my advice is to learn how to do the exercises and do them before you get worse. I had X-rays and Mri. They were all negative. So I'm going back to doc soon one last time. I am in a muscle relaxer and antinflammatory. I know keeping that range of motion is so important Good luck
@A MyFibroTeam Member Yes, in addition to the rotator cuff issues in both arms (that I didn't realize I had until I started seeing a new rheumatologist), I also have bursitis. I have it in arms, both hips and calfs. I had always explained that it felt like I had tabs, if you will, coming down from my ears essentially, through the sides of my neck, down either shoulder, then running down to just above my elbows. I was told by 2 rheumys that they were trigger points. Dr Ashraf examined me then sent me for some tests and said I had the problem with both rotator cuffs. I have struggled any time I've tried to work with my arms over my head, or scrubbing floors would kill me but it had to be done... Anyway, she gave me injections to try to calm down the bursitis and wants me to go to PT. Unfortunately, I fractured my hip and I am having trouble with the entire leg as I had that knee replaced a couple years ago and have been in pain ever since because of the soft tissue around the prosthesis. Having to stay off the hip is causing the knee to tighten and spasm. Once he says I can, I will be going to PT for my rotator cuffs, my hip, & my knee!
