A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

My dr just put me on cymbalta today. For those of you that are noticing a big difference... How long till you noticed that it was helping??
I'm hoping it helps my muscles not to hurt so bad.
And what strength are you on to help? He is titration me up. 30mg this week. 60 next week. Then 90 mg.

I recently got off of Cymbalta after being on it for 3 years. It took care of my pain but the weight gain for me was as much a problem.I was also very hungry and sleepy. I have a new dr and she put me on Fetzima. So far I am happy with the results of Fetzima.

I've had great results with Cymbalta. The first 3 months I had hardly any pain at all.

Cymbalta is only for the depression. In a better mood, you'll feel better. For me, just gives me a smile with the pain still there....for the muscles, a relaxer or steroid shot helps. Naproxen helps but rough on stomach lining. Must eat with them. I have horrible problems with my back muscles cramping and knotting up. Constant problem!! God bless and I hope and pray I can help you.

In my bio I stated that I don't "sugar coat" and will answer truthfully. I was put on Cymbalta and thought it was a miracle drug....until. I seem to be the guinea pig in our family (this includes my parents and siblings) and maybe that's because I don't scare easily. I don't know. But, for just a little while I was taking it and feeling so much better and then my sister (who is diabetic with Neuropathy) began taking it when it "seemed" all was well with me. Not long afterwards I began having nightmares. "Screaming nightmares." It was to the point I was begging my husband to call the doctor to get me off of the stuff. Ironically, my sister has the most hysterically funny dreams as a side effect and can make family gatherings very entertaining. At the time, I was seeing a rheumatologist. When he was contacted he insisted I be taken to the ER immediately. I suppose he was more afraid of any other side effect that might occur. Needless to say I "cold turkey(ed)" the Cymbalta and my nightmares stopped. My sister is still taking it after 2 years and the only other side effect we have noticed is that she is passive - which, take it from me - is a very good thing...

I am on 60 mg a day. It took about a week to notice a difference. I take the generic and don't see any difference between it and the name brand. I would like it if I didn't have to take something every day but...I have to work and medication is the only way I can do that.
