Excessive Salivation
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

.Does anyone else have GERD or reflux. I am experiencing this after I go to bed and anywhere from 3 AM to 5 AM I begin experiencing excessive salivation, and or reflux to the point my husband says it sounds like I am drowning. I also begin coughing. I am currently on Prilosec 40 mg and it does not seem to be helping. This occurs almost every night to some degree. I have woke up feeling like I am drowning. @A MyFibroTeam Member. Sorry the famatodine didn't work. This disease is just so awful. One thing works on one person but not the next. We're all in this big pile of doo-doo together and yet we all have to fight our own fight. So frustrating! Hugs for a better day from the bayou!

@A MyFibroTeam Member I take Protonix for severe GERD/Reflux. Raise the head of your bed it really does help with the reflux.

You should get your thyroid checked! Excessive saliva and drooling is associated with imbalance in your thyroid!!

Yes. I have heartburn and nighttime acid reflux. I am on a Aciphex twice daily, plus I gave up all acid producing food -- including caffeine, chocolate, fruit and fruit juice, I eat nothing hot or spicy. Doing so eliminated my heartburn. However, I still got acid reflux at night. I finally just realized that when I get constipated, I get the nighttime acid reflux. I have to go and have an endoscopy because the reflux that I have been having lately, has brought my heartburn back, which caused my esophageal, in the past, to become narrow.

Last night slept on my stomach and had total relief of my symptoms. Plan on trying again tonight.
