I've tried Ambien, Trazadone (it gives me nightmares), Lunesta, Risperdal, Melatonin, I think that's it. I could be wrong. I've taken so much stuff it's hard to remember plus the fibro fog don't help much. Any advice is appreciated.

Members shared their experiences with prescription and over-the-counter sleep aids for fibromyalgia, with many noting that medications like Trazodone (in varying doses from 100-300mg), Amitriptyline (10-125mg), and Nortriptyline worked well for some, though several emphasized that most sleep aids eventually stop working and require rotation. Several members suggested alternatives including Valerian Root, 5-HTP, melatonin with herbs, medical marijuana where legal, essential oils like lavender and chamomile, heated blankets for pain relief, and benzodiazepines like Klonopin or Xanax when traditional sleep medications fail. A recurring theme was the frustration of medication tolerance, the challenge of staying asleep versus falling asleep, concerns about long-term side effects and drug interactions, and the understanding that what works varies greatly from person to person in the fibromyalgia community.

I have taken all of those too. I now use Valerian Root it's in the vitamin/herb section of any store. It helps me stay asleep all night most of the time. I haven't found any side effects from Valerian Root and it isn't contraindicated with any of my other meds.

Nortriptyline has done me wonders, same class of drug as amitriptyline, don't know what I'd do without!

Note to all, I have a very high tolerance to medication and very low tolerance to pain.
