I saw my Rheumo doc for a check up. He had me get labs done. My CPK came back high. He had me repeat it and it came back high again! Now he wants me to have an EMG on upper and lower extremities. I believe he is checking for Myositis. I had an EMG on my arms before and it was soooo painful! I don't want to do it again! Then the next step would be a muscle biopsy which sounds just as painful!!! Does anyone have experience with this? Could it be just my Fibro? I am seriously stressing about this… read more
Please stay on top of this because my Mom was taking the Crestor (High Cholesterol Medication). It attacked her muscles and was breaking them down. The enzymes clogged her kidney filters and shut down her kidneys. Now we have to take her to dialysis 3 times a week. When we got her to the ER her CPK was something crazy. They did perform a muscle biopsy while she was in the hospital to ensure the muscle deterioration stopped. Not trying to scare you, just want to ensure you stay on top of this and have other information to put in your tool kit. My last labs my kidney function was low and my Primary Care Doctor said nothing to me. Now I have a new Doctor and we are repeating all my labs.
I was just diagnosed with Fibro mid June...but all my problems started last July. After my 3rd ER visit...they determined I had a Statin induced myopathy and I was taken off of my cholesterol medicine Simvistatin! My CPK muscle enzymes were elevated then and remain so currently...even after being off the medicine since last October!
Sorry, I haven't. But if anyone does, they'll be answering soon. Find peace in God and turn your worries to Him.
